2026 GameChanger Policies
Parent/Player Stat Keeping/GameChanger Policies
As an organization, our overall goal for GameChanger is to provide parents, relatives, and fans with an opportunity to follow games live, a book to help us stay up to date on games, and the ability to use stats as a tool for player development.
For GameChanger, we ask volunteer parents to run our books to help keep track of outs, scores, pitch counts, etc. As a coaching staff, we appreciate the time and commitment it takes for the volunteers to do the books. Book-keeping takes in-game focus and attention to detail that we do not take lightly. As a coaching staff and as parents, we do not expect our books to be perfect, but appreciate the time and focus it takes to keep a book.
GameChanger can also be used for addressing our teams' and individuals' development. As a coaching staff, our concern is not batting averages but, more or less, things like strikeout-to-walk ratios, first-pitch strikes, number of free bases, quality at-bats, etc. Stats do NOT directly dictate starting line-ups and batting orders, and players will NOT be recruited by their GameChanger stats.
To meet these goals for GameChanger and so the stats don't become issues for players, parents, or coaches, we ask our parents to:
- Do not talk stats with players. We don't want players focusing on their own individual stats. If there are ever any stats we want players to focus on, we will address it with them as coaches.
- Do not compare stats against teammates in a negative light.
- Do not cause strife over stats, and do not take stats too seriously.
- Understand that the volunteers doing the stats are doing it to help the team, whether it's helping the coaches or helping the parents who cannot attend the games.
By signing below, you agree to avoid any conflicts or issues and agree to understand that the stats should not be taken too seriously. Our goal is to have a community that focuses on team successes rather than one player's stats.
Also, if you are a volunteer GameChanger book-keeper, by signing below, you agree to avoid favoritism and bias to the best of your ability and to do your best to keep the book for the team so parents and players can watch the games, the coaches can use the stats for teaching tools, and so we can keep the book from game to game.
