2026 Player Code of Conduct
Player Code of Conduct
I understand that as a Riptide Travel-ball team, we will be involved in athletic competitions, intense practice/training sessions, and team-building events. The job of a coach is to challenge the players physically and mentally and the job of a player is to accept that challenge.
As a player on a Riptide Team, we are expecting:
· Effort/Hustle – we believe strongly in hard work and structure. When our players hustle, no matter the situation, we know that they are buying into the team concept.
· Team First Mentality – While summer/fall/showcase ball is about developing the individual players. Baseball is a team game, and learning this concept is paramount to playing in High School or College.
· Good Teammates - Maintain a positive relationship with your teammates. We have a zero tolerance for players bullying or picking on others.
· Cheer on your Teammates. We are all in this together, and when one succeeds, the team succeeds.
· Coachability. Be receptive to coaching and listen when being spoken to.
· Be Respectful – No arguing with coaches, umpires, other players, other teams, etc. Always conduct ourselves in a way that represents our families and organization in a positive light.
· No slamming of equipment or crying during games. We all need to learn how to control our emotions.
· Playing Time/Sitting on the Bench
• Players may not have always done "something wrong" when sitting. If we have 10-13 players, there will always be 1-4 players seated at a time.
• If you are sitting, your job is to: root on your team, stay ready and engaged, rest, and keep a positive attitude.
• Players are allowed to talk to coaches about playing time at appropriate times. Conversations with parents can be had if needed, but we want you, the players, to lead the discussion with the coaches.
· No Profanity – No profanity or inappropriate language will be tolerated.
· Success in the Classroom – We are student-athletes, and sports are a privilege. If there are issues at school, then playing time may be affected.
· We ask for focus and effort to improve. If you don't want to be there, it won't help anyone.
· Wear appropriate apparel for practice and games. Wear pants, a hat, and cleats when outside and tennis shoes when inside. No cleats at Indoor Facility.
· Do not leave the bench or dugout area during games or practices unless permitted by the coach.
· Post Game – Do not leave until the coach has excused you. Coaches will usually have a short follow-up after the game and conditioning for pitchers.
· No cell phones at practice or in the game.
Consequences for violations of the above rules:
· Removed from a particular drill or session
· Removed and sent home from practice or skill session
· Extra Conditioning
· Removal from the game
· Suspension for upcoming games
· Removed and sent home for the remainder of the tournament
· Potentially removed from team and roster
No refunds will be given if suspended, removed from the roster, etc.
